As the first class with 5 main turrets, the aft most turrets were called Emil. The Tegetthoff's were also the first battleships with the 'SSF' Turrets setup, as the Ceasar turret was mounted super firing Bruno, which was already super firing Anton. Additionally, the lack of boilers led to a much more concentric internal subdivision. The first of its kind, The Gas turbine would revolutionize the Tegetthoffs, extending their range to unprecedented ranges compared to other ships. The Tegetthoffs speed was also the result of a top secret turbo-electric gas turbine setup. The Tegetthoff's high speed of 38kn was a result of the requirement to outrun British battle cruisers. However, the resulting ship was larger then every European ship, out-sizing the similar British Queen Mary-classÄesigned to out run heavy cruisers, the Tegetthoff was built as a fast Battleship, with 5 large propellers.
